Kid’s wear … a big chapter in the FASHION market

Here I am again!

This time quite a different topic …

Do you have any children?

Personally no, I do not have any. And I am not looking for having any for the time being. But I have attended in January the famous Pitti Bimbo exhibition, here in Florence, and I can say that it is a fascinating world for what concerns fashion and the clothing business.

One maybe obvious thing to say is that kid’s wear is not just simply an adult’s wear shrunk in size! It is much more! And different … and unique garments that only kids can wear looking amazingly beautiful!

20170121_144739

One thing that I feel like saying is that kids have their own world which is precious, so I agree that children should not be dressed like little women or men, but like kids.

I don’t want to put here pictures of me when I was little, but I quite enjoyed looking back at them, and seeing how sometimes I was dressed so pretty! Thanks mum for the clothing choices and matches!

Then I remember when I was little, the first time I was trying to use make-up. And it was just for Carnival that make-up was permitted … the last day at school performance … these kind of events.

And playing with clothes in my grandmother wardrobe, wearing no matter what, and jewels: necklaces … Modeling was a kind of a game.

Kids should remain kids. They have time to face adulthood and all its beauties but also problems.

Another important thing is that kids should feel comfortable in what they are wearing, and not just look cute.

I remember at the elementary we were obliged to wear skirts, as girls, and I was not caring, I was playing football with my school mates anyway!

There are so many different garments.

For going to school, for going to play sports, for attending a birthday party and special occasions …

At Pitti really quite many inspirations for new outfits.

If there is any kid’s wear BUYER within you readers, please feel free to contact me privately for business proposals.

Almost Spring time … what’s below the clothes? Our body we must love it!

Dear readers …

Spring’s approaching quickly.

mimosa

Weather’s changing. So it’s time to put away the wool and start wearing lighter clothes!

But what’s below the clothes?

Do we love our body?

Or winter time has made us put on some extra weight?

Nobody is perfect, so let’s start considering this. So regarding the outfit choices go for something you always feel at ease wearing.

Be yourself!

Inspired by a Facebook post I just replied to, I would like to give you here some easy tips to get better in shape with no efforts.

First of all cut desserts and sugars in general. It is not a big sacrifice. Just eat them more rarely.

Prefer brown sugar to white one and even better honey.

Second important thing to remember: avoid white bread and carbohydrates that are not wholegrain!

White pasta is ok, but better cutting white bread: GI too much higher.

Eat fresh fruit and vegetables. Less meat. More fish.

Cheese better very few times, if you could do only once a week would be ideal. You could go for yogurt at breakfast also or as a light dinner once in a while. And milk of course at breakfast so you have your calcium intake. With cheese you get too many fats.

Reduce or avoid for some time booze. I know, it is difficult, Sommelier’s speaking. But you will see. Alcohol is related also to our hormones balance and it is 7 kcal per gram! Even beer, just stop for a couple of weeks and you will see incredible results!

Avoid sparkling sugary drinks like Coke. Just fresh fruit juices and the ones with no added sugars in the ingredients (pineapple i.e.).

Ok for coffee, but not too many, especially avoid coffee in the late afternoon/evening if you want to get better sleep.

Sleeping is so important! The less you sleep the more you put on weight! It is not me saying it, but science: it is the melatonine balance that gets affected by the lack of sleep. At least 7 hours in a row. And avoid keeping technology close to the bed.

Drink at least 2 litres of water per day.

No snacks nor breaks. Just 3 meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

If you cannot do other way just fruit would be ok for the hunger.

No chips, cookies or any other packed food.

Stay simple. And also vegetables not to be cooked too much not to lose their vitamines content.

Do some sport. Yes. I will maybe talk about sport clothing in another post.

Anything.

Even just a walk. Some physical activity to boost your metabolism and gain back energies.

We all need it with the season change.

No butter, no margarine, nothing: for fats just extra virgin olive oil to use for cooking and raw.

Walnuts and dried fruits are important in a well balanced diet, but without exceeding: they are very high in calories.

And last advice: eat with calmness, and reduce quantities of everything.

Not a big effort, but quantity makes the biggest difference.

Try to cheat your mind using smaller plates, or at least make the food appearance to be like a full rich portion.

Don’t do other things while eating. Concentrate on the moment.

Enjoy the food. Chew slowly.

And I promise your weight will change!

Just little changements but with great results.

Variety.

And simply less.

If you prepare too much food put the rest in the freezer: it will be another meal another time.

So are you ready for lighter clothes in spring time?

If you have any chance to go for a swim, swimming is one of the best sports to get back quickly in shape.

But anyway stay active. Days are getting better, so don’t stay indoor: go outside, enjoy the sunshine.

And don’t worry!

You are beautiful! All of you! No exclusions!

Stop punishing yourself with food if you are not happy about yourself.

Just breath. Start back loving you. Life is beautiful and remember you are in charge of your life! Be happy!

Wear what suits you and start to get back your balance with your body which is self acceptance first.

What is the part of your body you love the most?

The one you love less?

I will answer in next post to all your messages in reply to see what the best outfit or garment could be for you!

And do not be afraid to dare a little change!

Try today a different make up! I will speak about make up soon also.

A new hair cut?

Remember also that true beauty comes from within.

So shine!

Don’t be afraid of who you are! Just be!

Smile, and the whole world will smile you back. And a smile is the best outfit for any occasion!

Thanks for reading me and see you next!

Vintage – are we old fashion?

Ok …

Another post.

I promise I will write many more. But you know, in anything, the beginning is just the worst, even if also the most exciting and hardest step at the same time. It is like before jumping off a cliff. Scary but beautiful. Each step is. An up hill climb. Life’s ladder steps.

So today I would like to talk to you about Vintage, and my concept of vintage.

First of all a question: are we “vintage”? Are we feeling old fashion? And what does it mean?

Is it real, or just another way to say we don’t fit in?

Well my point of view is a 38 years old one’s.

Yes, I am 38. Nobody believes it, but it is true.

Do I have to consider myself “vintage”, “old”?

Not at all! Not even when I will be 50!

As I wrote we have to believe in ourselves, in our beauty at any age, in our own being and style.

End of January I have attended the 2017 Vintage Selection 29 in Florence.

At the Stazione Leopolda in the same days of Pitti Filati, quite important fashion events, actually Pitti fair should be worldwide known, I guess.

An event for vintage clothing: real vintage or a re-make in vintage style.

I never bought anything that was “belonging to someone else”, so I could not wear anything really “vintage” in its peculiar meaning, but still if I open my wardrobe I do have quite many garments that date back many years ago: the famous sixties i.e. so actually I have and wear “vintage” sometimes.

Not ashamed to say that I still have and use some of my dad’s shirts. Silky, colorful, smart … and not just those! And things also belonging to my mum or my aunt …

So vintage is not that far from us! We might all have relatives who maybe once gave us something to keep and wear.

But I don’t want to show you now the things I have in my own wardrobe, or at least not in this post.

But I got a few inspiration from the clothes I was watching in the exhibition.

And I do believe that actually “vintage” is not “dead”. Because even nowadays fashion sometimes steps back to take some inspiration from “older” stuff.

I remember when denim trousers came back again with wider bottom leg: the so called “zampa di elefante” in Italian, literally “elephant foot”, in English “Bell-bottoms” or “flares”. Do you remember them?

I love them, and actually I wear them, I mean sometimes I like to have trousers ending wider so I can put just short boots below them. And also I have to confess I am quite tall 1,87 m (more than 6 ft). So for me it has always been so difficult even when I was little to find trousers who could reach my ankles. And these kind of trousers helped me a lot to be able finally to find in the market something I could wear feeling comfortable in their length.

Quite funny that nowadays even in men’s clothing we see pretty many examples of trousers that actually look quite short, and intentionally are left or put up shorter to show socks and visible ankles. So you see … You never know where fashion’s going!

But let’s go back to the vintage.

Here some pictures I took at the exhibition …

20170125_16064820170125_163827

What if you didn’t know they were vintage? You see what I mean …

Here some more pics.

What is important in fashion, in my opinion, is to dare. Yes, you heard well, to dare.

And not just talking about models in posh fashion parades. We all should.

Try to make different matches. Using different colors, new ones …

When you browse shopping stop looking always for the same kind of garments you use to wear. Even accessories …

Dare! Change! Try!

That does not mean to become ridiculous wearing something Carnival style or too extravagant for a daily routine life. It depends a lot on the occasion we have to chose an outfit for. And it depends on you.

But sometimes even just one garment, or one accessory, i.e. a bag, could change the whole look.

So why not?

Always always always trust your gut, and wear what you like, no matter what it is.

Vintage?

Perfect. I mean you are wearing it now, 2017, so it will be anyway a garment lived now. So wear it your way, inside your outfit and style, as part of your outfit, not trying to imitate anyone, not even an old “hero”, but just being yourself.

This is what really matters: YOU!

Just one character jumped to my mind straight away writing this: Audrey Hepburn.

How amazing was she? A lot. But it was because it was her!

So even if I love her style, her posture, her silhouette … I cannot be her. I am myself!

And what is class? We say it is not water.

So it will not be any garment making you be classy and elegant. It will not be copying anyone.

You have to be classy, yourself. Look elegant yourself. Which means to be you.

Because the best way you can dress is to wear your personality, who you are and not who you pretend to be.

Only this way you will make your own style just following what fits you the most, what you like the most, but not on someone else, but on you!

So enjoy vintage your way!

As Frank Sinatra song: we have to live everything our way! Starting from our wardrobe!

Thanks for reading!

See you soon

PS none of the pictures I have posted in this post is really “my style” but it is always nice to look, appreciate, gets ideas and inspiration … and that exhibition was very interesting from this point of you.

There were also original garments not just in terms of colors and materials but also shape.

Here some more pics.

The beauty of life is that we are all alike and different at the same time, so maybe some of you will love the garments I have posted the pictures of here in this post, and some will not.

Anyway feel free to leave a comment if you like, and maybe get inspired!

Because I guess sometimes we forget one of the most beautiful gifts we have: sight!

So look around, notice things. And in clothing you know how much this matters. With our eyes we already touch materials, appreciate colors, models, matches …

Thanks again for reading, and see you next!
