Dress your skin

Hi everyone!

As I wrote you in the last post, here in Italy the political elections campaign is quite tough. We have elections on the 4th of March. ( I am member of the PD party).

The risk is also from the far right, which is in a huge coalition group, defending the “white race”. Such an absurdity when we all should remind ourselves that only one is the exisiting race: the human race!

So I would like you to shine, whatever is your skin color or shade of color!

Because this website is about fashion, so do your own fashion! Be yourself! You are amazing! All colors are beautiful God’s creation. And it is not an addition of pigmentation in the skin that should make us be looked in a bad way.

To be honest with you some days I wish I were born in a dark skin. I am really suffering all these discrimiations and hate spread in these days against immigrants who have a dark skin color. (still people praising a crazy nazi who shot six innocents a couple of weeks ago) just for the color of their skin. Now he is in jail but still people are not all condemning him but justifiying saying it is because there are too many immigrants … crazy speeches)

I have posted on Facebook a picture of myself when I was not even 18, I am sharing with you here as well.

no al razzismo

I was in a language studying trip. Education is the basis to understand world differencies but also similarites that make us anyway all brothers and sisters. There are more things that unite us than separate us. Humanity is mankind. Why discrimination? We are all human beings with same dignity and value.

Did Martin Luther King die for nothing?

A couple of days ago we had the nephew of Nelson Mandela in my home town, Florence. We built a cell-like space. To remind us where Mandela lived for 18 years. In a small cell because of his color of the skin and his battle for human rights.

We have been the only city in Italy to give Nelson Mandela honour citizenship and also we gave his name to one of our most important buildings where we make concerts and events.

I would like you worldwide to spread this message that is Mandela’s and Martin Luther King’s: stop the hate, but not with more hate, but with love and education.

Only light can send away darkness. These are Martin Luther King words I agree about 1000%.

We need to avoid the risk here in Italy that the far right coalition wins.

Also they want to withdraw from Europe, to isolate … madness.

And nobody can stop people from moving to one country to another, especially when these people are just looking for a better future and are escaping from sure death. We need to remember our humanity. People want to send them away, but away where?

As a union, in Europe we are finding and we need to find solutions here in Europe and also in Africa where they escape from. So, far right parties do not have to win.

Till not long time ago, Salvini (the Lega party leader) was blaming South Italy people, and saying that people from Naples smell badly. Now he is doing the same with immigrants: discriminating.

Italy is just one country and people are forgetting his hate for the South of our country. Now he has shifted his intolerance and hate towards the “strangers”. Totally unacceptable.

I do hope people will use their heart and mind when voting on the 4th of March.

We need it, to move on, as we did with this legislation and this just finished government. We managed to go out from the economical crysis we had fell into. And now we are growing again, we are moving forward and we do not need someone to bring us back to past times with Berlusconi, to be forgotten.

Thanks for reading me once more.

March approaching quickly and lots of tensions around. We need to stop this spread fear and hate aroud.

Colors are the beauty of life!

A big hug to everyone, because no one ever should feel discriminated especially for the color of the skin.

Thanks again for reading me

you all guys take good care of yourself

See you soon

Dress with honesty

Dear readers,

here I am again.

In a grey, rainy day here in Florence, Italy.

We are living in a quite delicate moment in history. Lots of things, mostly bad, happening around the globe.

And I just would like to make a sad comparison between my country Italy, and US.

Yes, because we are having political elections on the 4th of March 2018, and I do not want to see happening the same thing that American people have faced in United States with Trump election.

Yes. The situation is not too different for some aspects.

We have elections for the parliament and the other chamber, in Italy we have two different chambers, and a quite complicated legislation system: laws need to pass first in one chamber, then in the other one before complete approval.

And on the 4th of March also, the party who will get more seats will be also in charge of forming the new government that will be in charge for another 5 years deciding the direction of our country not only for inner regulations but also concerning our position in Europe and in the world with the international global market and decisions.

It is very scary.

Because we just face here a rise back of Fascism, yes, you heard well, people who miss those horrible years of our history, when we were allied of the Nazi.

Fortunately not everyone. And we managed in the past to get the Republic and a true democracy and freedom, with loss of lives to defend people rights and principles of equality, free press, free speech. But now it seems it was done for nothing because people want to lose all that and miss the dictatorship.

I think the news of what is happening here in these days are spread worldwide.

There is a huge hate spread around due to immigration and fear spread with fake news of invasions from African countries. Actually in total here arrived in these last years just the 0,83% of our population, so not an invasion at all! But far right parties have spoken of threat for security and so on.

Saying 600.000 people, while in reality the numbers are much lower, around 400.000 spread in years, so as I said for a total of 0,83% of our population.

And generally speaking in Italy we have an average of 8% of “strangers” in our population, it means living here people also coming from European countries, which is not a huge number after all. And personally I am in favour of anyone. I have lived myself 4 years in London and more than one year in Paris and no one has ever really discriminated me for working there, for being manager of a shop, or directing a whole supermarket department … Here in Italy there are now crazy people who even think that immigrants steal jobs! Madness!

Also these racists far right extremists also do not consider that there is a huge difference between immigrants and people who are born here, live here, study and grow here, have family here, will live here. And still we haven’t been able to make a law been approved about them, the so called Ius Solis, which is for giving citizenship to the people who are actually Italian because speak Italian, live here, are born here, or arrived here when little, study here, work here, have family here, friends, and want a future here. It is very unfair that these persons who are Italian, are not recognized yet as Italian citizens and have to wait till when 18 years old for long burocracy procedures to obtain the citizenship.

Going back to the recent news.

A girl was found dead, chopped and put in two suitcases. She was drug addicted. A Nigerian illegal immigrant was found guilty of hiding the body. Still not sure about what happened. But the spread of hate was so huge that a member of the far right Lega (Salvini leader) party decided to take a car, a gun, and go around the city where this happened (Macerata city) and shot 6 innocent people just because they had black colored skin.

The problem is that the political party of Salvini did not fire this person, who now is in jail, they did not completely condemned it but justified him and people praised him, saying that there are too many immigrants. And this is so awful.

This is very serious. We are having a true threat to our democracy, to the costitutional principles of human equality and we cannot accept discriminations of any kind and this hate spread is just madness.

Reading the news there are lots of more Italian persons involved in horrible murders and facts like rapes and so on than immigrants, but in this climate of elections, these crazy far right fascists racists just think all the fault has to be found in immigration.

So I wrote this article for everyone to help us spread a true message of democracy and equality principles. I do not want a Mr Trump like to be elected here, to start deportations of immigrants, and to praize white people! We are all the same. Skin color does not define a person!

Also there is something very bad happened: that crazy guy also shot our party building in that city (Macerata), and what’s more, there is a hacker who entered yesterday in our political party of Florence (The Partito Democratico, PD, of Florence), and they put on the web all the names of our members, so even mine, with sensible data like the address and phone numbers.

They want to threat democracy. They want to win elections on fear. This is not a fair way to do political campaigns.

And also there are so many fake news spread around.

There is another political party that is quite scary the Movimento 5 stelle, where there is Luigi Di Maio leader who is just a mask. It is a private society. So here as well, no democracy! A private society that controls the party in the name of Davide Casaleggio, the owner of the society. So not a party where citizens are free in decisions or democratically organised. This man, Davide Casaleggio controls everything. People will pay 300 euros each. It has a web platform called Rousseau where they made people vote for the leader Luigi Di Maio, but actually it was not a secret vote, as it should be. Because of the platform, Davide Casaleggio can track every voter, even months after it remains the track. So where is democracy if citizens have no real privacy of vote? And the party is not like ours, democratically organised. It is a private society! Also Davide Casaleggio lied about it and actually about his position. They also create lots of fake news and spread them on social networks. They lie to people. They have put in the lists a man who was caught dancing with the Spada clan, mafia people! And the people of their party who are in charge now of cities like Rome and Turin just show the incapability of governament.

Just some last conclusions.

We as a party, PD, Partito Democratico, believe in honesty.

This elections campaign is not made in the name of honesty by other parites. And with hate spread and insults and continous fake news also about our party!

There is the risk for our economy, they want to go out of the European Union. There is a huge risk for democracy and people rights and equality.

And hate is huge. People shout and incourage fear and spread fake news about everything.

Thanks for reading me.

I would need all your moral support.

It is a very tough time and I really do not want to face the same horror America is facing with Trump elections.

The far right, Berlusconi party (who is together with Salvini), they have in their program a law that will make poor people and rich ones pay the same taxes! (flat tax) completely unfair and not constitutional! It is like Trump cutting rich people taxes.

We must stop all this before it is too late!

Thanks again to you all.

Take care

Hi everyone …

Sorry for my silence.

Days are flying. And I am still unemployed, struggling to get known with my novel … It is all a long way, an up hill climb.

A few days ago, I was lucky to had the chance to see live a very important person, Vandana Shiva.

She is Idian, she is a physicist, an activist for all what concerns environment in India. She did big battles against giants like Monsanto who are trying to sell their seeds in Indian fields, and spread their seeds instead of local ones, bringing milions of farmers to committ suicide because market is completely changed then, prices of seeds so high, crops paid ridicolously low, and people are not able to survive. And then you drink happily your coke and eat those cheap chips, not knowing that the price of 10 rupies was what had been paid for many chilos of potatoes. Unacceptable.

And the water! There was, she told us, a village a bit hidden, where women, 100 women went on strike because the giant Coca Cola producer was simply stealing their water to make the so loved sparkling drink, leaving the people of the village completely with no water!

Mentality has to change in terms of respect of people and environement.

And the culture of super cheap is just ruining everyone. Things have a cost. Where are they made? How? At which price?

Every time we go shopping at the supermarket, she asked, do we care what we buy? How it is produced? Where it comes from?

We all should go in the direction of a more aware shopping. Quality and especially respect for human work and environment.

She is the voice of millions of people, against big giants who just see profits, who do not care of how to get more money, they just want more money, more production at lower cost, no matter the quality, no matter the respect for Nature, no matter human beings.

And also she was explaining that most cancers of course come from eating rubbish and “plastic” food and drinks.

We have to go back to an harmony with mother Nature, otherwise, in a cathastrophic but realistic forecast, the future of the planet is our extintion.

And I add, we can start from ourselves, at home, also recycling and separating plastic and glass from paper, organic residues … We have different containers where we can recycle. If we all could really do it, every day.

I think about the seas which are covered in floating plastics. Fishes eat plastic. And then of course we will eat fish and we will eat plastic as well!

You need to be careful also about some products like body scrubs: it is very important to check that they are not made with little plastic particles.

So I hope with this article to have a bit inspired you. We all need to go in the direction of care for our little planet.

Recycling and an aware shopping are good starting points.

And despite someone saying that there is no real “climate change”, we all must be conscious that we actually are responsible for the future of our planet.

So let’s all start from little gestures, but let us be more aware of our mother Nature and its beauties that we do not have to polute and destroy, because we are here, and we all belong to our mother earth.

Take care you all

All the best

2018 committments

2018! Happy New Year to everyone!

This post is not about me, it is about you!

What are your committments for this, just begun, 2018? Which are your goals?

We have to start from ourselves!

And first goal is to be happy! Truly happy!

And the first thing we should be happy about is ourselves! Yes. Because everything starts with us. If we are not happy about ourselves, how can we think that something external to us, could make us happy?

So we must first love ourselves, and be happy of who we are.

And we must start this with accepting our true self.

Stop pretending to be who we are not! And simply accepting who we are.

No more inner conflicts! No condemnations or heavy judgments!

So let’s start from the past.

The past is past. Sounds quite an obvious statement, but actually it is not that obvious, because we still make our past weight and be a burden for our present and our life now! So let’s start to forgive ourselves for our past.

We can begin 2018 with the hope to manage to fix all that we did wrong last year, but what cannot be changed and fixed, we just have to let it go! Move on! Past is dead. Consequences of the past remain, and this is the only thing we have to deal with, but we cannot change what has already happened! We can do something new, but not cancel what is done! So leave it!

So 2018 we must stop stressing ourselves about our past mistakes!

We learn from our mistakes, they are our best teachers! But we live in the present. So let’s focus on the “now”.

We must love ourselves, so if there is something about ourselves that we are not happy with, we simply have to change it! Stop complaining and overthinking! Nothing is permanent! We must improve. Let’s do it! Move on! Do something! If we really want something we have to start working for it! Looking at the ceiling doing nothing, will not change anything!

So let’s go out from social networks, Let’s live for real! And let’s make the changes we are dreaming about!

What do you see when you look at yourself in the mirror every morning?

Every day is a new card we have been given to play, and live.

If we want a new start, a refreshment, why not trying for instance a different hair cut? Hair color?

Make-up. We should take care of ourselves and love that image we see in the mirror. Make up is a gesture of love towards ourselves. We do not have to look “beautiful” for someone else, but for ourselves. And it will improve your self exteem too. So try! Not too much make-up. Day time you cannot look like going to a glitter disco party or dark heavy metal concert! So be sober! And remember care of our external look, but without a smiling inner soul in peace, every outfit would be wrong. But we have both external and internal side, so we must take care also of our body and our look!

Diet. What an ugly word! Nobody should be on diet! We should be caring and loving ourselves and our bodies too! So listen to what our body truly needs. There should be a balanced and healthy relationship with food! We need food to be alive as we need liquids to be hydrated. And now I do not want to make you a lecture on vitamins, carbohydrates … But you all know that we need fruit and vegetables for vitamines, carbohydrates for energy of long term release (sugars are not good because of the high glycemic index), we need proteins for muscles and also iron for carrying oxygen in our blood stream …

So limit the rubbish staff! The sugars! Once in a while you can, but daily eat healthy!

And then the main thing is quantity!

Do you eat slowly? Do you put your food in smaller plates to trick your mind about how much you are eating? Do you eat without watching telly or doing something else? yes because we need to eat slowly! We will feel fuller sooner. We need to trick the mind convincing also our inner self that we will not be starving! Very wrong to eat on sofa watching movies or anything because this way is a compulsive eating with no real mind monitoring on real quantities taken …

There are lots of little changes we should do. Drink enough water during the day to fight liquid retentions! Do not skip meals, but even little, we should always eat breakfast, lunch and dinner.

But above all, the most important thing to do is sport! Not going to play at the olympics but is enough a walk, a run, swimming, gym … whatever you like but just movement!

Once I read an article saying that airplains are not meant to stay on the ground, and actually they get “rust” and deteriorate quicker if they are kept on the ground insteat of being used flying in the skies. Same for us! We need to keep active! And doing any kind of sport activity releases “happiness” signals to our body. Sport makes us produce and release endorphins! We do not need drugs! Try it! After, you will feel relaxed but also with a bunch of additional energy to spend! Also the mind gets recharged, and can then focus back better on issues. Also metabolisms increases! So stop doing nothing! Even cleaning the house is a movement! Do something! Especially if it is a sunny day, go out for a walk!

So if the issue with your happiness is your body shape or weight, start doing a little thing every day!

Since I have been in India on vacation, I have started some yoga exercises every morning. Just breathing things, simple ones. But every little helps.

And if alone you are not brave enough to move: involve someone else for a walk, a run, a tennis game, going to the swimming pool … anything!

Then clothes

Quite a tricky subject. It depends on occasions, mood, what fits you the better …

Let’s say that we all must be feeling comfortable in what we are wearing. So we can then forget what we are wearing and concentrate on living!

A perfect teraphy for happiness is colors therapy. I already wrote it here in another article, so I will not repeat myself. Just that if you want to cheer up, use bright colors! The world is beautiful and full of colors! So wear colors!

All this I wrote till now is mainly about your “external side”.

For what concerns about your inner side, your soul … Try to make a real peace treaty with yourself.

Write down a to do list. Think about where would you like to get, what would you like to achieve. And start to work on what’s necessary to shorten the distance between where you are and where you would like to be. And remember Rome wasn’t built in a day! But start doing something in the direction of your dreams! Do not give up! Life is one, and “if you can dream it, you can do it!” Walt Disney

Be positive! Always! Even if something goes wrong, just trust the journey! Things happen for a reason. Do not give up! “The darkest hour is always the one before the dawn!”Cohelo. And go on smiling!

Positivity is contageous, and the more you share it, the more it comes back to you!

You are alive! Remember this!

Try to treat everyone with kindness. Remember Ghandi. The strenght is in the calmness.

And if you start to put yourself in harmony with the others and the universe, the universe itself will help you moving in the direction of your dreams.

Will is everything, will is power.

And do not focus on what has not been achieved yet, but see what you have done already! you are moving in the right direction! And if there is no way in front of you, it maybe a turn in the street, but keep walking. If a door does not open, maybe it is not your door, or maybe it is not supposed to be opened now! Have faith! And keep moving forward!

And above all thoughts remember you are never alone. God is next to you, always. Trust Him!

Best of luck to you all, in all your battles and struggles.

And I wish you the best 2018! With happiness, results, satisfactions …

And remember happiness is not meant to be celebrated alone!

Share it! Do not keep it for yourself! Spread it around!

You all deserve it, and if someone truly loves you, your happiness is their happiness and the same in reverse! Learn to share your emotions! Be alive! We are not cold machines. We are here to share! And giving to the others, even if it is just i.e. our time, we will find a pure joy of the heart that goes beyond everything. Do not expect anything back. Just give. Love.

Life is short. Start to be positive and happy now! Happy for who you are, what you have, who is close to you, who you love and who loves you.

Remember nobody is perfect, and we all make mistakes, what makes the difference is our attitude, and what we do, before, after … Take actions! Speak! Ask for forgivness, forgive and forget! Move on! Let it go! Focus on the positive always, and improve. We all must. In this short journey called life where we are asked to walk next to each other supporting, caring, being.

All the best

Take care of yourself you all

See you next

Christmas dress code

Here again …

Already December … Tomorrow Christmas! Today Christmas Eve!

Time really seems to fly so quickly. Yesterday was summer! And this cold seems to freeze our thoughts too sometimes …

So what to wear at Christmas time? I guess it is the right time to speak about Christmas outfits. What will you wear tomorrow or tonight?

What decides fashion is also the weather, and with this cold it is very important to be well covered.

There are still on fashion, this year as well, the boots in suede filled with a warm fake fur or similar warming materials.

What about wearing them even with a skirt and thick tights?

If you wish to make it gradual the passage, from the boot to the thin leg, you could wear also a pair of long woolen socks, the ones that reach the knee or almost reach it.

There is then a lot of choice for what concerne the jumpers: so many! And also the colors! Especially when the days are gloomy and grey what about cheering up with a bright color? The other day I opted out for a bright purple. I love purple! And even if it is a sunny day why not to add more color and make it all more cheerful?

And if you wish to match it just with a pair of jeans, or why not even a denim skirt!

Then we have to see also what kind of event you have to attend.

Have you seen the dress of Megan? The future Harry’s husband at the Queen celebration?

Lots of people are already copying that dress.

For Christmas lunch opt for something not too dark. It is daytime. Something red is always nice at Christmas time. Beautiful are all different shades of darker red.

If not a dress it could be just a jumper in red color.

I know you are now thinking about the deer in Bridget Jones movie. Well, if it is a simple home family gathering … why not? It could be funny to be casual and sweet.

For restaurant lunch, try to be a bit smarter but remember it is still day time, so no drama.

Even the make up should be not excessive and also not too much sparkling for day time. New Year’s Eve is another story. Go for a make up that is not too sofisticated.

Regarding being in shape, especially if you are out for lunch do not exaggerate at breakfast with the famous Panettone cake!

Remember to wear a beautiful and maybe colorful or smart scarf. Even if you have a plain black coat, it will make the difference!

But above all wear one of the most beautiful smiles of yours!

Be happy! Christmas is time for celebrating. And even if your family is not a 40 people gathering, still enjoy it! What matters is being together with the people you truly love.

Christmas is for family, for true love.

Forget the material gifts, what matters the most is being together and spend time together. The most beautiful Christmas gift is your presence!

So smile and remember that we are here to love! Nothing else matters.

And be kind. Smile to strangers, say Merry Christmas around and share positivity.

Smiles are contageous. Positivity as well. So share love.

And let’s make this Christmas 2017 really special.

Dear readers,

ambition in life is essential. And I want to dare. I have published my first novel in Italy, already winner of 2 literary prizes. For now it is just in Italian. But I am dreaming of making a movie out of it.

So I do need your help to make my dream become reality.

If any of you can read Italian language I could send you a copy of my novel. It could be also a very nice Christmas gift. I have translated it myself and I am making a revision of it. (I’ve lived 4 years in London, but still in a novel the style is essential).

Regarding the movie any advice is more than welcome.

I am trying to find a producer and also a director. Still not sure if to make it in Italy in Italian or in US.

I have started sending some emails.

I do believe in the story and I am sure it could be such a beatiful comedy because the message is positive: love. And lots of characters, and the plot is not banal at all, on the contrary!

Thank you very much again for your support

We all need to keep our dreams alive and work on them to make them become reality

And hopefully it will be soon.

All the best

And enjoy December!

Take care

Undress your soul

Hi there!

Sorry again for being absent …

You know there are so many different kind of silences, and not just between two people.

Behind this one my messy life, and my mood shifting … not easy: 38 years old, still trying to understand what I really want to do with my life.

Why this title?

Because yes fashion is about clothes and how to get dressed, and how to look like, and make up, and shoes and hair style …

But the best outfit we could ever wear is our shining soul coming out from underneath our clothes.

So sometimes yes, dress is important: we cannot wear pajama at a wedding! But I think people sometimes forget that the best thing to do is just to undress a bit our soul with heavy covers.

We need to shine. We need to make our alive essence sparkling, and being able to glow and spread light all around.

I have always been told that I look much more beautiful when I smile. And I always wondered how can mood affect so much on the external appearance of someone and also other people’s perception.

Yes. We need to wear our best smile, that doesn’t have to be a fake one, but a true one, because finally we give room to our soul to be, to exist, to shine, to be noticed by others.

I always hear of people looking forward to copy someone else’s look. But what about being ourselves?

We are beautiful. All of us. And first of all our beauty is inside us. Hidden. Let’s undress our souls. Let us make the world look at our real us, our real essence.

Starting from the eyes: mirror of the soul, and actually more than mirror I would say door of the soul.

The magic of a glance. There is no glittering powder stronger in sparkle.

We don’t have to be afraid to show up. We deserve to be out there as much as anyone else.

Life is now.

Let’s be out there, and not hidden behind a computer screen. Let’s shine and live for real.

And not being afraid of what other people might think because we are ourselves.

If people don’t like us, it is not our problem, but theirs.

So let’s step out into the sunshine, and let’s undress our soul from all the heaviness and life covers.

We are here to shine and be.

Have a good life everyone.

Take care and see you soon.

I promise

Dress your body … with henna tattoo!

Hi there …

Ok, sorry for my silence … yes I feel the need to apologize … it was quite a while.

But in this silence time I’ve also had the chance, like last year, to work for 10 days in an amazing exhibition fair in Florence. It takes place every year, once a year for 10 days till the 1st of May (it started on the 22nd) it is called:

MOSTRA INTERNAZIONALE DELL’ARTIGIANATO Mostra Internazionale dell’Artigianato Firenze

An exhibition where you can find really whatever you want, from national Italian handicraft to clothes, to international stands from Morocco to India, Pakistan, Iran, Lithuania, France, Spain, Mexico, Tunisia … all countries really! I cannot mention all of them, and do not get me wrong if I do not put a complete list here but there are so many countries! Really a worldwide reality.

From jewels to clothes, forniture, food …

An amazing experience, I advice you to do it once, because it is a little bit like travelling to each country just moving from one stand to another one.

And also in terms of food we go from Iranian dates to the Morocco area where there was a restaurant (I have tried one evening lamb cous cous …) and a full stand of typical sweets, I have to confess my lunch break a couple of times was just some of those and an amazing Moroccan mint tea to come with.

And from Sardinia typical goat cheese to spicy sauces from Calabria Region, oranges from Sicily, French baguette, amazing Campania buffalo mozzarella cheese … and also famous restaurants like Quinoa that I really love, and I enjoyed once at lunch with my mum. Amazing vegetarian food. They have a restaurant in central Florence I have also rated on Trip Advisor because really worthy.

I have to stop writing about food. I actually have a food blog with my recipes.

Food 4 wine

Well concerning this post, and my website, I would like to tell you today that while working there I decided to do something very very special: henna tattoo.

Yes you understood it well: HENNA TATTOO.

I have no tattoos, nothing, just earrings one per ear.

So it was quite a shock, but an amazing surprise to rediscover the beauty of my hands, seeing them differently. This way!

So I would like to know what do you think about it?

Have you ever done one, would you ever do it? Any real tattoo?

I was working in an Italian clothing stand in the fair, and I had to ask the permission for it, for doing it and then working, but I did not regret it at all! On the contrary it was superb! And my customers loved it too! Sales went on very well even if I was selling Italian clothes, with those hands! So no prejudices!

Then of course it depends what job you are doing, which is your outfit, which accessories you wear … But if you do not have any specific working restrictions, why not?

You could also ask for one in a part of your body less visible instead of front hands …

And it lasts only ten days, so really worthy, even just to try it before doing a real tattoo, just to see how you feel like, with your skin looking different …

I really advice you to do it, what do you have to lose?

It would have been nice also to have one on the back … Now my henna tattoo is gone, and I am missing it. It was really beautiful!

I do think it is a way to rediscover your body beauty. It is a form of art. It is also a real artistic talent.

There was a catalogue to chose from, but in my case I didn’t chose anything, no design was followed, just a new drawing created at the very moment, not copied. Amazing!

I have to say Kushal Pal (Mani) really impressed me, you can find him on Facebook  Kushal Pal (Mani) if you are curious and have info about his work, a real profession and passion I should say because he has a real talent.

And art is a form of beauty.

I really would advise everyone to try it, to really find back your own beauty.

Something that suits you, so ask for advice. We are all different, depending also on our outfit, what we usually wear, our very personal shape and lines.

Easter dress code

Easter …

Happy Easter everyone first of all!

I was just wondering which is your own outfit for Easter?

Christmas celebrations is, let’s say, quite easier because it is winter (I know not in Australia but …), and is big family gatherings, with parents and closed ones … so definitely the outfit needed goes towards the smart side. But not as smart as New Year’s Eve, I mean more sober, with less sparkling lights, and more warm colors and red. Yes, red. I remember this past Christmas my dress was just red, a warm dark colored red, but red. Red seems the perfect color for those festivities. But not for Easter.

So then what?

Well mostly depends on the weather. And when Easter falls each year.

This year, 2017, we are speaking about the 16th of April, so already Spring time, started a while ago, and quite hot also. Some rains here in Florence, but no more coats for sure! No more wool also.

So then what?

It mostly depends where we have to go to.

My Easter will be quite simple tomorrow, just me and my mum, so I do not have to exaggerate, I wouldn’t have anyway.

So maybe not jeans and hoodie, but not even a smart evening outfit too.

But for sure we have to make a difference with everyday dressing, so maybe we could go for some details to stress that it is a “special day”.

I remember once, years ago, I was just on a trip with friends, so Easter lunch was as simple and as warm as friends company is.

We use to say: “Christmas with your family, and Easter with whoever you want!”

So in the end it will be up to you! Depending on the company and the location of course! High heels in the countryside maybe not …

Be at ease. Not too formal. Something you can feel you are aware of the special day that is, but with a more “soul dressing” than body clothing.

What about the colors?

Freedom of choice. Maybe a touch of color yes, not black or grey only. We need colors. As color therapy also teaches, we have to be lifted up also by bright colors.

My city, Florence, has the Purple as color for our football team, so I do love it really, I am wearing it today also! So why not a nice purple?

So for Easter dress code I would advice moderation, but colors!

And have a lovely Easter time everyone, trying not to eat too much chocolate and cakes! But anyway enjoy!

I remember spending my Easter in London, when I was living there, quite many years ago, working … Some chocolate arrived anyway but it was a working outfit I was wearing …

Anyway, most of all we have to feel Easter inside, in our hearts.

So let’s the light inside us be the shining light that dresses ourselves also.

Love has to be the best ever outfit we could ever wear, in our sight, in our gestures, to make everything brighter.

Happy Easter again to everyone.

You all take care!

How smart are you? What is elegance?

Being smart … elegant … posh …

What does it really mean? Is it a good thing?

Do we have to wear golden clothes, or shining diamonds to be elegant?

Or it is about a different kind of sparkle and light?

Definitely there are so many examples of people, still alive or not, that are an emblem of elegance even if they are not wearing any silver nor gold, nor shining dresses nor accessories.

Just to quote one that I did love so much, and I still do: Audrey Hepburn. She was elegant even wearing any casual dress. It was a matter of style: her presence, not just merely the posture nor the manners.

So then?

What is your concept of elegance? Is it just in fashion or a personal definition despite of clothes?

Little princesses grow?

Starting from when we are little we can be dressed like a noble princess, but one thing is the dress, the other is the person.

In this world who only looks at the apparence it is easy to have prejudices, but if we look well to each other we will realize how elegant people are even in daily life clothes, without ceremony dresses and so on.

This does not mean that is not nice to dress up, but it is not a necessary condition to be really elegant.

I would like to give you another example of elegance: Kate Middleton. You may like her or not but for me she is a real example of elegance. Which has a sober side, in the sense that to be elegant we do not need to be too much. Not too much make-up, nor too many jewels, nor too much of anything.

In latin we say “in media stat virtus”. It is so true, it can be translated “in the middle virtue stays”.

Balance. Always, in anything in life.

Then of course it depends also on the event we are attending, the choice of the right outfit.

For my first novel presentation I chose a Ralph Laurent dress which for me is really beautiful because it has some very special details but it is not excessive. Not too short, nor too flashy …

With a black jacket it was for me just perfect, and I was at ease with it.

And I would like to remember you that with a dress that already has a motive, tights should be simple. On the contrary if the dress is simple then you could dare with some tights which have a motive, or a design … Again balance. And elegance is really the concept of “less is better than more”.

In Italy we say not to look like a “Christmas tree”! To say that too much is too much. Too many points of attraction for the sight.

And what about just a simple classical black dress?

This picture is from my book, a few years ago. I would go now for a less red lipstick, thinner heels, maybe black tights, and what about a nice hair chignon (hair bun) or just very straight hair?

To look more elegant sometimes is enough even just an accessory.

What about a nice necklace or a foulard?

Pearls maybe could a bit “old fashion” for someone, but even just a simple jewel, not necessarily a real one: on the market with very little money everyone could buy jewels that just look like real ones but are not. Or even something original with some semi-precious stones like amethyst, or even glass …

And what about a casual-elegant outfit? How do you like it?

You see even an hoodie can become very smart … This one is a kid’s wear.

But even adults …

Sometimes in a garment a detail can really make the difference.

Like even a plain black cardigan can become something completely different.

This one is maybe a bit too much. Sometimes even just a little decoration can change everything in an outfit.

Most important thing you have to follow your curves.

Because elegant means also not showing all the lines of the body but marking the most important ones only.

So for instance a nice straight falling pair of trousers will do better than a skinny one if you are not that slim in your legs.

Body lines have to be defined by clothes, not to look more than what they are.

Also definitely showing too much is not elegant. I am talking about the décolleté in particular or too short skirts. But there are some outfits where there could be an exception for this general advice. I have in mind even some garments seen on the “red carpet”. It all depends who is wearing what, and how, and with what kind of surrounding rest of the outfit (shoes, tights, jackets …).

So rules for elegance: less in general and more simplicity, following the lines, attention to details and accessories (and not too many of them also) …

And regarding accessories the bag is really an essential part of our outfit.

It has to be coordinated. And if you are not sure remember that a small black bag is always a safe bet. Then of course the design, the material …

And do we want to talk about shoes?

If you have a black dress, or a dark color dress, shoes should be dark, or at least not lighter in color than the dress itself.

Harmony in colors, harmony in shapes.

Elegance is all a matter of balance.

Let me know if there is any specific subject you would like to talk about regarding this.

It has been a pleasure to write this article.

Hope you got inspiration for your elegance, trying to enhance and not depress your figure in clothes that could not be suitable for your curves.

Be yourself! Always.

And a true smile is always a good starting point to light up any outfit.

Take care
